3 tips to care for the skin around your eyes

The skin around the eyes is thinner with respect to the skin on the rest of the face. This is typically where first signs of aging are noticed. Taking care of this area, even in your 20s is guaranteed to yield you ahead-of-the-curve results as you age! Here are 3 tips to care for your underage area!

1.Moisturize!

Using a regular facial moisturizer typically isn't a good idea as these are usually to heavy for the delicate skin around the eye, in some cases causing irritation and crepe-y skin. Hydration using an eye cream is imperative. Although this won't necessarily repair any damage to the area or prevent things like fine lines, wrinkles/crow's feet, adequate moisture prevents dryness, which can lead to crepey skin underneath the eye area as well

2. Invest in quality skincare!

A great piece of advice- "Never cheap out on two things; food and skincare!" Investing in quality skincare is important- you only have one face! Bare in mind, this is the face you will have for the rest of your life. Look for products with the  following ingredients: vitamin a, retinol and peptide; which will help to stimulate more collagen to the skin around your eyes. Ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, and vitamin b-3, which help with the general aging process and reduction as pigmentation caused by dark circles.

Interestingly enough, our diet can impact our under eye area as well. Avoid sugar, saturated fats, MSG, alcohol, and in some cases- gluten.

3. Sleep tight!

It's important to get adequate shut-eye at night, as this is when the skin rejuvenates and repairs itself. Some dermatologists even recommend to sleep on our back, suggesting that some sleeping positions can strain the eye area.
